Practical Art History - Mary Kelly

TERM Online Art Classes

Thursday 09 May 2024 19:00

TERM Art Classes present an art history lecture with a practical twist for your participation, led by professional artists.

This is a pay what you can event to support artists. Recordings of the classes are available on request to enjoy in your own time via a private video link.

TERM Art Classes have previously been commissioned by Vans x MoMA and have been recognised by The National Archives. Now you can join the community of professional and budding artists at these relaxed and welcoming online Practical Art History classes from the comfort of your own home, anywhere in the world! TERM tutors are all artists and will guide you along the way with their background of degree and MA level education in Critical theory, History, Performance Art, Scenography, Fine Art and Art History, including studies at The Royal Drawing School, London.

Practical Art History features an illustrated lecture about the history of a prevalent artist, combined with practical art activities inspired by their art for you to take part in. We cover a different classic or contemporary artist every class to give you new found knowledge on their work and life. You will also be equipped with new techniques to improve your own art practice and to embed your understanding of the artist.

These online Practical Art History classes are for all abilities to enjoy. Join us for portfolio development, practice or fun! The live classes are also followed by an optional informal group art discussion where you can share your art work in a non-judgemental space to help build new found confidence and love for your own unique creativity.

If you can not attend a class, recordings are available to view. These recordings are sent directly to your email following the class via a private YouTube video link.

You will need:
• A space to relax and listen to the art history lecture.
• A surface to create on (paper, an iPad, cardboard, etc).
• Your choice of painting or drawing materials. We usually recommend different art materials depending on the artist we study, but you’re welcome to bring any materials of your choice.
• Internet to access Zoom ( https://zoom.us )
• A drink and snacks optional!

Pay what you can for TERM Art Classes from £8 - £14 (£5 for concession). All profits go towards paying our tutors and zoom fees so we can continue providing enjoyable art classes and supporting our staff.

TERM Practical Art History is streamed LIVE via Zoom on London UK Time. Coordinated and delivered by professional artists Klaire Doyle, Anna FC Smith, and guests based in England.
